We look to the Moon

A DotW RP By:

----------

:iconselenethewerewolf:  Nahi was wandering around her marked territory. Though it wasn’t an official territory yet, she kept mostly to this area when hunting and marking her land. The land was quite barren, just covered in a valley of grass. The forest was more towards where her den was. Now, she trotted across the field headed toward the tall rocks. The sun was setting and soon the full moon would rise. Every night of the full moon she made it apparent to visit the rocks. Though they were out of her ‘marked’ territory, they didn't belong to any wolf and she liked to visit the high peaks to get closer to the Moon and her Moon Goddess. She loved to sing on full moon nights, giving praise to her Gods.

:iconwolf-of-dirtypaws:  being that Nakota was still rather new to these lands, he was still learning where he was safe and where not to go (unless he wanted his head bit off!). quite frankly, however, due to the whirlwind of a life he had been going through- he wanted to seek counsel with his goddess. coincidently, to look the same celestial orb that Nahi was currently on her way to the rocks to visit. the young male lay on a soloum high rock, letting out a heavy sigh while the moons cold rays of light consumed his glassy green eyes. he took a break a moment to look down at his paws where he would soon rest his head. ‘I know you’ve always guided me down the right path, but this one sure is a bumpy one….’ he thought to himself before his eyes returned to that glowing sphere. the silence that followed was….unsettling. he knew her messages were never sent in a verbal manner- but in a time of questioning- hearing nothing was a bit troubling. still- this silence gave him time to hear the paw-steps of the approaching female. he wasn’t sure what to do aside from flattening himself as much as he could to the rock- his tail giving an uneasy swish.

:iconselenethewerewolf:  Nahi walked over the peek on the high rock, staring up at the moon. A cool Autumn breeze blew, it ruffled her red coat that almost looked like fire from the glow of the moon. A scent hit her nostrils, "if someone is here, you can come out. I'm harmless."

:iconwolf-of-dirtypaws:  Nakota continued to watch the wolf from a safe distance, tentative, but almost mesmerized by the look of her fur in the moonlight. he had never seen such a brilliant color in fur. he was content just watching from a distance when she spoke up. he gave a slight flinch as he was addressed. it took him a moment, but soon he peeled himself from the rock and sat up, looking over to her. “my apologies… my encounters have been…..less than pleasant so please excuse my caution” he said in a rather….formal tone. it was obvious he was not from around here (if it wasn’t already apparent from his coat and his scent).

:iconselenethewerewolf:  Nahi smiled friendly toward the young wolf. He looked to be around her age, if not a little bit older. "It's alright, its understandable. I'm pretty much harmless." she said and wagged her tail. Her nose twitched slightly at his scent. Now that she had a better look at him, she was able to breathe in his scent deeply. Hm, she couldn't recognize the scent, perhaps he wasn't from any of the packs around here. Her tag wagged curiously. "My name is Nahi, by the way." she introduced herself.

:iconwolf-of-dirtypaws:  Nakota offered a soft- but still cautious smile- sitting down as a sign of relaxation- even if it were mild. “Its nice to meet you, Nahi…...my name is Nakota” he told her. to be fair- this was the first meeting he had that had started out alright…. he just hoped their meeting continued to be this pleasant. “are you...?” he asked as he looked over his shoulder some- trying to think of how he wanted to word this. “part of a pack in this land?” he asked- his tail starting in a slow wag, brushing the rock he sat on.

:iconselenethewerewolf:  "Its nice to meet you too Nakota, what a pretty name." she smiled brighter at him. Her eyes shining with two tiny suns under the glow of the moon. "And, no. I'm not part of any packs in these lands, but I do plan to start my own pack. However, it is a bit more..different than most of the packs of these lands." she explained.

:iconwolf-of-dirtypaws:  Nakota smiled bashfully as she called his name 'pretty' taking it as a kind compliment. he cocked his head lightly as she began explaining her situation. "oh? you have a strong mate, and a following i assume- yes?" he asked- his tail picking up a bit in a light wag. to have a pack once more would be something he seeked- but seeing as he was of Alpha-blood… he might not play as nicely with others being a simple member… something he would have to learn to overcome in time.

:iconselenethewerewolf:  Nahi blushed slightly, "Actually, no.. I don't have a mate. I've been on my own since early this year. I've..really only found one other follower.." she glanced at her paws sheepishly. "Not a lot wolves believe what I believe.." she explained. Something though, perhaps the way his face looked..told her..this one might be different than others.. "What I believe in..is Gods..and Spirits. Especially I believe in the All Mother of the Moon, Gaho."

:iconwolf-of-dirtypaws:  Nakota cocked his head in a confused manner. "I…. find it hard to believe that this is a….rare belief?" he said in question. he had grown up surrounded with the idea of there being spirits in all the nature around him- and that the mother of all was the moon. where her name Gaho, he couldn't have told you- she was always referred to as 'mother' or 'mistress' in his previous pack. "to only find one follower….surely you must me looking in the wrong place" he said as he cocked his head the other direction- getting to his paws and giving a swift whip of his tail.

:iconselenethewerewolf:  Nahi laughed softly, "Perhaps. Theres only one other pack that believes in Gods, it's the Havir pack. But, I do so wish to create my own pack." she said, her tail wagging slowly.

:iconwolf-of-dirtypaws:  "ah…. I see" Nakota said with a gentle nod. "well I do hope you good fortune in that respect, I will wish good luck to you in your searches" he said with a light nod to the moon as if to suggest he would ask 'mother'.

:iconselenethewerewolf:  Nahi's keen, sharp golden eyes spotted the acknowledgement to the full moon. She raised her head curiously. "Do you believe in such?" she asked, acknowleding the full moon above them. Her eyes were filled with surprise, wide with wonder at the young male, Nakota.

:iconwolf-of-dirtypaws:  "well…..yes" Nakota said as if it were obvious. however he soon nodded his head to the side. "at least… if not the same- something similar. I Believe that the moon, she collects the energy from the sun and magnifies it. And the Giving mother that she is… offers it to those of us worthy enough. she helps us, and guides us.. it is what i was taught ever since I was a young pup… I am….surprised at your shock…" he said, turning his face from the beautiful flow, to look at the crimson she-wolf. she seemed so…. surprised! like it was abnormal!… didn't everyone believe this?

:iconselenethewerewolf:  Nahi blinked curiously and she leaned forward, looking all interested. Her tail slowled moved upwards, "I'm only so shocked because.. a lot of wolves that..I tell them that I believe in such Gods and Spirits, they just dismiss it.." she explained. "Its nice to run into one that is as like-minded as myself. I know..I don't really know a lot about you, but..I'd love to get to know you better. Ya..think..perhaps you might want to join the pack I'm creating? We can interpet your beliefs as well." she said, trying to contain her excitement. It was if she were a young pup again.

:iconwolf-of-dirtypaws:  Nakota gave a bewildered expression as she announced that it was something most wolves didn’t believe! how could that be so?! he that it was common! that everyone was brought up that way!... of course, he had a lot to learn now that he was on his own. but wait! an offer arose!
oh! my….. that is… very kind of you” he said with a modest smile and his tail wagging briskly. “I will certainly consider it! though- of course I would prefer to know you more” he explained. “I am still in a bit of….. well- shall we say… shock, from the loss of my previous pack. I can’t say i’m so eager to jump at the first opportunity. yet… still…. I would not pass up getting to know someone of similar belief…. especially if such wolves are….scarce… in this area, as you say.” he mentioned

:iconselenethewerewolf:  "Heh, sorry..I guess I am a bit over zealous." she chuckled and blushed slightly. When he mentioned that he had lost her pack, she lowered her ears. "I'm sorry, for your loss. I..I didn't to push anything on you. I..also lost my family when I was a pup. Raised by a single wolf; adopted Father." she explained, twitching her paws and looking a bit ashamed at rushing things. The last thing she wanted was to scare a potential pack mate away.

:iconwolf-of-dirtypaws:  Nakota looked down, a soft smile across his maw as he took a breath to tell her it was alright- that he wasn't offended- but as she continued speaking, she caught his attention. he looked up and raised his head some, his ears swiveling back. "oh dear…. I…. I'm sorry to hear that… I imagine it must be… harder when you're younger…" he said. he felt a little silly being so upset over something she had experienced at a much younger age. "but ah…I do hope to keep you in good company…. I imagine i may see you a lot. this is probably the best place i've found yet to see her." he said as he looked back up to the sky, getting lost in the glistening blanket of cool blue and shining stars…

:iconselenethewerewolf:  "Well, its not a claimed territory yet." she smiled slightly, her eyes a bit distant. "You seem like a good enough wolf, perhaps we can meet again." she said, raising her eyes to the other. "I..really do hope we meet again, Nakota. And, take your time to consider my offer. If you want to ever meet me again, there is a cluster of rocks to the east. Its where I stay." she said and began to turn away to head back to her claimed den sight in the east.

:iconwolf-of-dirtypaws:  Nakota looked back down to her as she spoke. she smiled at her compliment, giving a soft nod to her. "I hope so as well. I'll think on it." he said. he raised his tail lightly and watched her walk off. it was comforting to run into someone as like-minded as he. once she was out of eyesight, he laid back down on the rock, resting his head on his paws and continuing to gaze among the stars.

an rp between :iconselenethewerewolf: and I :3

Nakota and Nahi both believe in a verson of a moon goddess- so we figured we should throw them together and see how it went! XD
evidently Kota is still settling in.
